TG1 chemically competent cells are highly optimized for phage display, antibody phage display library construction, screening, cloning, sub-cloning, and recombinant protein expression.

The lacIq gene encoded on the F' episome allows tight regulation of expression vectors containing an E. coli promoter under the control of a lac operator sequence (such as T5, tac, and trc).
