Innokenti Toulokhonov, Ph.D.
Founder & President
Dr. Innokenti Toulokhonov is a veteran biochemist with over 25 years of hands-on experience in protein engineering, recombinant protein production, and industrial biotechnology. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Novosibirsk Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Russian Academy of Sciences) and conducted extensive postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His pioneering work on RNA polymerase structure and function has been published in premier scientific journals, including Science and Molecular Cell.
Prior to founding Amid Biosciences, Dr. Toulokhonov held senior research and co-founder roles at multiple biotechnology companies, leading complex protein engineering projects from initial molecular discovery through successful commercial launch. At Amid Biosciences, he built the company's manufacturing and expression capabilities from the ground up—establishing optimized bacterial protein expression systems, advanced purification workflows, and rigorous analytical quality control processes. His technical oversight ensures that every product meets the exacting standards required by academic, industrial, biotech, and government laboratories worldwide.
Alex Toulokhonov
Co-Founder & Operations Lead
Alex Toulokhonov is a chemical engineer alumnus of Michigan State University whose professional background spans corporate process engineering at Procter & Gamble and analytical laboratory operations at Eurofins Scientific. Most notably, Alex designed and established a high-throughput, CLIA-certified testing facility from the ground up, scaling operations and managing a large technical team to process tens of thousands of tests per week. This achievement underscores his specialized ability to rapidly develop, automate, and optimize complex biochemical workflows under demanding, highly regulated conditions.
At Amid Biosciences, Alex leads production scale-up, laboratory automation, and supply chain logistics.
